Bruins grab first playoff win over Habs

BOSTON—The Bruins did everything right: they hit, they won battles for the puck, they got traffic in front of the Montreal net.

And they finally — finally — they beat the Montreal Canadiens.

Marc Savard rifled a wrist shot passed a helpless Carey Price and into the Montreal net on a delayed penalty call at 9:25 of overtime, sending the sold-old TD Banknorth Garden into a towel-waiving frenzy. It was the first playoff goal for the much-travelled 30-year-old centre.

The 2-1 overtime victory was the first win over Montreal for Boston not just in these playoffs, but this season. In fact, it's Boston's first win, dating back 14 games to include to the end of last season.
