Sask. community recovering from fatal gas explosion

Dozens of residents of a small Saskatchewan community are waiting to return to their homes, after a massive natural gas explosion killed two people, destroyed several buildings and prompted an evacuation order.

The two victims have not been identified but are believed to be residents of Nipawin, a town of about 5,000 people.

"Despite the fact we suffered two casualties in the community, I think considering the time of day (of the blast), on a busy Friday morning, we might be fortunate there weren't more," said Mayor Glen Day.
