Toronto transit strike averted after deal reached

A transit strike in Toronto has been averted after a last-minute tentative deal was reached between the Toronto Transit Commission and the union representing 8,900 TTC workers.

"I am here to announce that Local 113 and the TTC have reached a tentative deal," Bob Kinnear, president of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 113, told reporters Sunday afternoon.

"There will be service tomorrow."
