Standoff in Saskatchewan town ends peacefully

INDIAN HEAD, SASK. — A 17-year-old male is set to appear in court Tuesday after he and another teen were involved in a standoff with police in a small Saskatchewan town.

RCMP say it began about 5 a.m. Sunday when a stolen truck hit a pole at a trailer park in Indian Head, east of Regina.

Sgt. Carole Raymond said a 14-year-old male surrendered about 2 p.m., while a 17-year-old gave himself up three hours later.

Sgt. Raymond said numerous weapons, including firearms and edged weapons were seized.

No one else was in the trailer home at the time.

Several residents in the area were evacuated during the 10-hour standoff.

The younger male was released to his parents, while the 17-year-old was in custody and is set to appear in court Tuesday in Indian Head.

Police did not say what charges the boys face.
