NDP's loss may be Liberals' gain

SAANICH, B.C. — Until this week, Eric Andrews was planning to vote NDP in Saanich-Gulf Islands, the riding Natural Resources Minister Gary Lunn has held since 1997.

But the retired provincial civil servant confessed to second thoughts Wednesday when pausing for a chat at a mall in Saanich, north of Victoria.

He has no choice. The NDP candidate has dropped out. Julian West resigned this week over allegations he exposed himself to a group of teenage girls 12 years ago.

His name will remain on the ballot, but most NDP votes are expected to migrate elsewhere.
