Family IDs body pulled from river as that of missing teen

A body pulled from the Bow River on Friday is that of their missing son, a family says on the social networking website Facebook.

Reid Shellian, 19, was last seen at a friend's house on Aug. 16. His bike was found on the shore of the Bow upstream from the Old Engine Bridge near Canmore.

On Friday, canoeists found a man's body in the area, on a sandbar along the bank of the river.

Police have not confirmed the body was Shellian's, saying the identity would be confirmed early next week.

However, the Shellian family posted a statement on the Facebook page dedicated to finding the teen confirming his was the body pulled from the river.

Police have said they do not believe foul play was involved.
