LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Screenwriter Elan Mastai wants to see this whole dang relationship through.
The Toronto-based scribe has sold an untitled breakup comedy pitch to Paramount that he developed with "This American Life" host Ira Glass and producer Alissa Shipp. It's about a young woman who gets dumped by her ostensible soulmate and refuses to get over it.
Meanwhile, he's also been hired to work on the screenplay for "First Kiss," a romantic comedy at Warner Bros. It follows a New Yorker strung out after a succession of failed relationships who begins to have premonitions about the end of each new relationship at the moment of the first kiss.
Mastai co-wrote the 2005 Lionsgate release "Alone in the Dark."
